Hey everyone, Adrian here. Today in class we went around and talked to every A level group about where they are with their films. Honestly, it was a good reality check. Hearing everyone’s progress made me realize my group is actually way ahead in a lot of areas. Here is how the interviews went.
Group 1

The first group we talked to was Noel, Madison, and Rafael. Their genre is Drama. Their storyline is focused on a girl who finds her guy best friend dead and tries to uncover what happened.
They told us straight up that their plot is not developed yet. They have switched ideas multiple times and they are still trying to figure out the direction of the story.
They do not have a storyboard. No script. No actors confirmed. No location planned. Basically their project is still in the idea stage.
Their strongest work so far is their scheduling blog. That is the only thing they felt confident about.
The advice we gave them was to tighten up their communication, settle on one clear idea, and start writing the script immediately. They have a lot to catch up on but at least they know what they need to do.
Group 2

The second group was Madison, Gaby, and Ethan. Their film falls under crime thriller. The concept is about a masked killer being hunted down by a detective.
They said their plot details are still unclear and they have also gone through several changes. The storyline is not fully locked in.
They do not have a storyboard or script finished either. The good thing is they at least have their actors chosen. Their biggest missing piece is choosing a final location to film in.
Their most complete work is also their scheduling blog, although one member is still behind on theirs.
We told them the same thing we told the first group. Communicate more and get organized because they kept contradicting each other when explaining their project.
Reflection
Seeing where everyone else stands actually made me feel better about our own progress. Even though we do not have our script yet, we are still far more planned out than most groups. We already have the costumes, character concepts, storyline foundation, schedule, and a clear direction for our film.
At the same time, I noticed the whole class shares a few common issues. No scripts finished. No locked locations. No storyboards yet.
Our group plans to start the storyboard process. Our goal is to have the full storyboard done by December 6th or 7th. Trust me, once the script starts coming together everything else will move fast.
More updates coming.
