Hey everyone, Adrian here. This blog marks a pretty big moment in the project because we officially changed the film title. After sitting down and really talking it through, we realized that the old title Black Ops Phantom felt a little corny and overexplained what the film already shows visually. It sounded like something trying too hard to be tactical instead of letting the story and visuals speak for themselves.
So we made the switch.
The new official title of the film is Blackout.
This title is straight to the point. It feels darker, more serious, and more modern. It also leaves more room for interpretation, which fits the tone of our film way better. Blackout suggests loss of control, secrecy, and chaos, which all tie directly into the storyline and the world we are building.
The inspiration for this name actually came from the Blackout game mode in Call of Duty Black Ops 4. That mode was originally a battle royale that did not fully succeed on its own, but it later evolved into something much bigger and more refined, which eventually led into Warzone, a game everyone knows today. I liked that idea of evolution and refinement because it mirrors what we are doing with this project. Ideas change, concepts get stronger, and things slowly turn into something more polished.
Along with the title change, we also officially revealed the Blackout logo. The visual inspiration for the logo comes from the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 branding. I really liked how bold and simple that logo was, and how it relied on contrast rather than overdesign. That same idea was applied here. The logo is clean, aggressive, and instantly readable, which helps establish the identity of the film without needing explanation.

This also ties into another big update. The blogsite itself is finally getting a real identity. We are moving away from the old media studies temporary logo, which honestly looked rough, and replacing it with the new Blackout branding. To make that official, I also secured the domain blackoutblogsite.com, which I now fully own. The site will be transitioning to that domain soon so everything matches the new identity of the film.

Overall, this change feels right. The title is stronger, the branding is clearer, and the project finally feels like it has a solid name to stand on. From here on out, everything we do will be under the Blackout identity, and I am excited to keep building on it.
More updates coming soon.
