Hey everyone, Adrian here. For this blog, I want to talk about some new recording equipment I picked up and finally show you guys what it can do. I recently got these 4K night vision goggles, and honestly, they’re one of the coolest additions to the production so far. They have multiple infrared levels and can actually record real night vision footage, not just a green filter slapped on in editing. I made a short test video just to see how it performs, and the results surprised me way more than I expected.
The main reason I got these is because I already had night vision goggles worked into Adrian’s costume from the full costume reveal blog. This just takes that idea a step further. In the film, I plan to use them during the scene where Adrian and Tati are parked outside the house they’re about to rob. While they’re sitting there watching the place, Adrian pulls down his night vision goggles, and instead of staying in normal camera footage, it cuts straight to footage recorded on the device itself. With some light editing, it’ll feel like we’re literally seeing through the goggles.
This also fixes a problem I had with last year’s project, where a lot of ideas were shown but not really proven on screen. This time, I actually have the footage to back it up. The night vision clip feels realistic, smooth, and fits perfectly with the tone of the film. I’m really excited about how this is going to elevate the tension in that scene and make it feel way more immersive.
Don’t mind the outdated date in the goggles recording. More updates coming soon, especially a more in depth breakdown of the full costume and how all this equipment ties together on screen.
