#38 Research/Planning – Script Progress, Branding Changes, and Finally Addressing the Minor Tasks

Hey everyone, Adrian here. Quick update on the overall progress of the film and a few important things that needed to be addressed.

First, the script. This is the part I need to be honest about. I am very aware that I am behind schedule. I was supposed to start seriously planning the script back in mid December, and it is now early January. That is on me, and I take full accountability for that delay. However, I can confidently say that the script has officially entered its early development stage. I am actively working on it now, and my goal is to have a full draft completed by the end of this week.

Another major change involves the logo and overall color theme of the project. Previously, we were aiming for a clean tactical green theme that fit the modern warfare vibe of the film. As the storyline developed further, especially with the darker plot twist and ending, that color no longer matched the tone of the story. Because of this, we decided to switch back to a red color theme similar to last year’s project Fading Into You. This time, the red is not tied to romance or emotion. It represents consequences, guilt, and the aftermath left behind by Adrian after killing the kingpin.

One important clarification that also needs to be made is that the official character names shown in the script are not final. These are placeholders for now. One of the main focus points for me and Tati this week is locking in the final character names, as this directly impacts both the script and our hit points. This is something that will be finalized very soon.

Now for something that should have been addressed earlier: the minor tasks. I realized that I have spent most of my time focusing on major elements like storyline, cast, costume design, equipment, and locations, while pushing the minor tasks to the side. These include the official social media page and the postcard advertisement required as part of the short film package. This is something I am correcting now.

I have officially created an Instagram account for the film under the username @blackout_alevel. Unfortunately, the username “blackout” by itself was unavailable, but this was the closest and most fitting option. This account will be used to promote the film, share behind-the-scenes content, and build interest leading up to release.

One marketing idea I plan to incorporate soon is short interview-style videos with the cast, where each person briefly talks about their role in the film. This idea was inspired by promotional content from the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, where cast members introduced their characters and gave insight into the project. I think this approach will add personality and depth to the film’s promotion.

Overall, we are slowly entering the final stages of planning. Most major decisions have been made, and the focus is now shifting toward execution. We are still aiming to begin filming next week and continue into the following week. More updates coming soon as production gets closer.
