Hey everyone, Adrian here with another update! As we begin locking in our plans for this year’s A Level final project, I’ve reviewed several A Level student portfolios and seeing what others have successfully produced, we’ve narrowed our final project options to two solid ideas:
Short Film Package
This is one of our top contenders. It would involve producing an original 5 minute short film which is super exciting since it gives us full creative freedom to develop a story from start to finish. We’d also create:
- An official social media page for the short film
- A postcard advertisement for a film festival
We love this option because it’s cinematic and gives us space to tell a complete, polished story. Given our experience with narrative storytelling (like Fading Into you), this format just feels natural and full of potential.
Film Promotion Package
This one is also high on our list. Instead of making one film, we’d make two different trailers for the same fictional movie. The trailers would each need a unique tone or style think teaser vs full trailer vibes.
Alongside that, we’d also design:
- A poster for the film
- An official social media page for promotion
We’re drawn to this because it focuses more on marketing and promotional creativity, which ties in with real world media production something we both love doing.
Why Not Music or Documentary?
We also looked at the Music Video Package and the Documentary Package, but ultimately decided to pass on both.
- The Music Package didn’t feel like the right fit since none of us are very connected to music production, and using a track we didn’t write didn’t feel authentic. Plus, our strengths lie more in narrative visuals and editing, not choreographed performance.
- As for the Documentary, it just didn’t excite us the same way. We wanted something more dynamic, visually creative, and story driven. While documentaries are super impactful, we felt our skillset was better suited for fiction and cinematic storytelling.
We’re still weighing between the short film and trailer package, but either way, we’re hyped for what’s ahead. Both options let us get creative with story, editing, branding, and social media so we’ll win either way. We’ll update you in the next post once the decision is official. Stay tuned!
